Dave Matthews Has A Winery?

Any Dave Mathews fans?! Blenheim Vineyards is a vineyard located in the hills of Charlottesville, VA and was the next stop on the Virginia Wine Trail! This weeks blog is going to be about this weekend’s girls day and how it was the perfect spot to catch up.

This past Saturday, Harrisonburg and Richmond meet Charlottesville! A few of my friends and I finally matched schedules and got a girls day! Getting a day off to squeeze in a girls day, especially with old friends is the biggest scam so far of adulting… We started off the day by going through their tastings. Everyone had broken out the fall outfits for the cool weather and we were here for all of it!

Stretching over 32 acres of estate vineyards, Blenheim vines include the sea view block, claim block, Blenheim block, and deer ridge block. The tasting included five of their ten wines, after which we would ALL recommend the 2018 Chardonnay. Their grapes meeting the standards of being organic, and having the location that they do is only the beginning of the perks for Blenheim

Dave Mathews has a side with his winery estate that music fans might not even think about. He does everything from hand drawing the art on the bottles, down to making sure the place was built in the most environmental friendly way. A few summers back, I had a roommate that was interning for his recording studio. Ever since the day she told me about him “stopping by the office,” I always think my time at Blenheim could take an interesting turn any time…. Fingers still crossed on that one.

On an episode of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Matthews talks about his Charlottesville Vineyard and explains:

My friends and I decided to fish for an open table outside and catch up over some chardonnay and cheese. The set up was super laid back and was more of a self-serve type of atmosphere. In my opinion, that being something that a lot of people enjoy when they think of a wine day. Believe it or not, the hardest decision was actually the type of crackers we and wanted to settle on… after hearing the news that they did not have cheese board spreads.

Blenheim is a place where it’s connection with the infamous Dave Matthews matches its quality in wine. Simple places like this are the perfect spot to get your girls in the car and plan on spending the day. From the food truck and the flights to the fridge of wine and cheese, Saturday’s at this Charlottesville winery is the place to be.
